∞ For all the Indiana Jones fans out there...

So I usually have my little crises. Don’t worry, they generally last for a week. After my day in Disneyland I thought about Indiana Jones and I realized there are several websites devoted to the hero.

I found one though which lists all the stores where to find the original items : hat, trousers, shoes, shirts, jacket, whip… The site, which is in French, mentions links to the manufacturers who worked for the costumes designers throughout the four movies. Most of the stores are based in the USA though.

So if you’re a fan and are looking to get real quality products and not mere copies. Go check it out!

I’m not sure I can actually picture myself talking like that in the street but it seems like a pretty bold project. Will Google finalize it ? I guess several security concerns and privacy issues will make it hard for those glasses to arrive in France anyways…

∞ Dropbox referrals are now twice as nice!

Wow! My fav online service has launched the nicest campaign on my birthday. I’m now at 22,3 GB of free online storage. What else could I have hoped for ?

Once upon a time, we noticed that Dropbox spread fastest via word of mouth. We’ve always believed that sharing is caring, so we rolled out this referral program to make recommending Dropbox an even sweeter deal. Back then, we gave out only 250 MB per invite. Then we doubled the space for students for inviting friends, and they liked it so much we decided to give it to everyone!

So I guess I could not resist. I had to buy one and get back in time. They actually look pretty cool. Made in France and of 100% wool. Nice!

★ Few ideas for tomorrow’s webmails

Some say email is nearly dead. Other say that email is still a very important means in online communications. I guess this is just a service that needs to evolve with its time, and as far as I am concerned, I’m not really ready to give up on it just now. After all, webmails were the first true SaaS offering. In fact they also were the first true Software+Service solution when coupled with a desktop client. That’s why, I have a few idea to boost webmail features.

∞ Yahoo! to give up completely on search

Yahoo! is about to give up completely on search. The company will most certainly only show a Google search box

From AllThingsD

Also up for debate is the best course of a two-pronged effort to renegotiate its search and advertising partnership deal with Microsoft, while also engaging in active discussions with Google about it taking over Yahoo’s search business.

(…)

The changes being contemplated include the possible sale or drastic reconfiguration of its ad technology business, which will effect at least 1,000 employees. Another 1,500 involved in Yahoo’s search business will also be impacted, depending on talks the company has been having with Microsoft, as well as Google, about better monetization.

∞ The top 20 mobile apps for web designers

From NetMagazine.com:

Since the original iPad’s release, the device has come under fire from, frankly, died-in-the-wool PC fans, claiming it’s for consumption only. Anyone who’s used an iPad – or, for that matter, a capable smartphone or alternative tablet – knows that’s hogwash. Sure, few designers want to set fire to their PCs or Macs and go mobile-only, but when you are away from your set-up, the current generation of apps enables you to work while on the go. And when you’re surrounded by all your technology, the best apps can still inspire and prove useful. With the help of designers and developers, we unearth 20 of the best.

A pretty bad concept for a MacBook Pro Touch. Hint : you don’t want to ruin your physical keyboard when it’s upsidedown

★ Tumblr, why do you hate web standards ?

Granted, my website may not totally respect web standards but Tumblr is not really helping us here.  I usually make use of the W3C validator whenever developing a website or a template and I try to tweak my HTML as much as I can. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Tumblr platform which is both very easy but also very customizable as well.

However Tumblr is sneakily adding not just one - as they used to - but two different elements in your code. You are not going to see it in your Dashboard. In fact you are not going to see it either by viewing the source of your website in your browser. There is no way you can remove those two elements.

Head over here, and try to validate your website. Do not forget to check the box “Show source”. You’ll see that Tumblr is adding a JavaScript at the top your header but also an iFrame at the very bottom. Check after the break to see what they look like. I wish Tumblr would make an effort reduce the number of errors they produce.
